i often wondered the same thing. I had a 4586 that the bottom went out on the VT800 and repowered it with a Cummins 855. What a difference. I also has a TD25C dozer with the DT817 and it also was a powerful engine. It was after cooled and put out 350 hp. Smoked a lot when ever the dozer changed direction.........
