You will not only need to check levels, but also change filters, fluids, clean radiators, know what grades of oil, recognise faults, etc, etc, etc. Do yourself a big favour and buy an operator manual (or get someone else to do all the checking/servicing). Manuals are so cheap that the pay-back period could be very short indeed.
