They aren’t worth much. Most people don’t want to use them any more. They are a little hard on fuel. I live in WA where there are a lot boats that used Detroit Diesels for gen sets. They surplus them for newer engines because it cheaper to buy a newer more fuel efficient engine. They show up at equipment auctions all the time. I have acquired several 3-71s in the last couple of years. I got one real good running engine for free. I bought two at auction for $25. The I payed $100 for one 3-71 that did not run. I paid $150 for one on a gen set that did run. I paid $450 for a good running one with a 4 valve head. If you are looking to buy a 3-71 or any of the two stroke DD stay away from the low blocks. They aren’t worth hauling home. I would pay more for one with a 4 valve head and more for one with the large air ports in the block
