actually, it is just in the very beginning stages of being
phased out in cars. in the future cars will use carbon
dioxide as a refrigerent. however, it operates at over 1000
PSI and will not be a drop in replacement for systems that
use any other refrigerent. so if you have an r-12 system
you want to convert to freeze 12 or r-134a, go ahead and
do it. it wouldn't be a bad idea to stock up on 134a,
because in a couple years you'll prbably need a license to
buy it, just like r-12
