Two thoughts: 1. What you said! I work a day job to fund my real vocation of wannabe farmer. I'm grazing 15 sheep on 4 acres, with 5 more lambs due. That means I'll spend a lot of the summer finding and harvesting grass to supplement my minimal pasture. Of course, in order to do that, I was forced to buy an old sicklebar mower to go behind my old tractor. Darn. ;-D. And I do, regularly, stand in the back yard, look at pasture that used to be alder swamp, count my lambs and my blessings. 2. Re: working at job as hard as we work at hobby. I have TWICE made the mistake of turning a hobby into a job. DON'T DO IT! Ruins a perfectly good hobby. I did custom tractor work with a backhoe, bush hog, posthole digger and rock rake. Turned into a frigging nightmare. Then I decided that I loved messing around with computers so much, I should try to make a buck at that. Same deal. I get home now, and just barely manage to turn my computer on long enough to check my mail and the boards.
