1998 Ram 2500 gas engine. I bought it with 98,000 miles on it. It had been a company truck. You hope the company that had it followed a strict maintenance program, but you can't be sure. At 102,000 the tranny went out. Spent $2k on a rebuild. It lasted 14 months and 14,000 miles and went out again. I don't know how much of that to put on the tranny and how much to put on the rebuild shop. The truck gets very little abuse. I only tow once in awhile (18' flatbed car hauler). I also don't know if my tranny is the same automatic that Dodge puts in the diesels. It does have me a little wary. I'll stick with it for now simply because the truck is paid for and I can't afford a new one right now.
