Belarus 250 Final Drive

I am trying to take the final drive off the Left differential so I can have the stud holes retapped and put in new pins. My question is will the final drive push off the gear shaft with a flat press bar bolted into the bearing cover holes or does the shaft have to be taken loose up inside the diff.
