I have had problems with the starter ROD and pivot that presses onto the starter switch button on the starter.. Get under it ( after ya KNOW it is OUT of gear) and either press the starter button ( if ya can push it hard enough), or wrap a piece of baling wire around the part of the lever that pushes onto the starter button (be SURE it is not going to short on anything)...try that, and I bet it starts..!!
