why build your own when there so many used ones for sale? But if you have to, yes you want to make it adjustable, so that you can cut agressively at first, then after getting the ground broken up you can set it straighter to smooth out ridges then if you're seeding down you drag a pole behind your disc to smooth it. good luck!
