I've used an F350 with Pto driven lift for roofing for the past 9 years and a Chevy 3500HD with an electric motor driven lift for 4 years and neither one has been much trouble. These trucks are dumped 4-5 times/week each, frequently overloaded, and often caked with mud from bad conditions at the landfill. The Pto drive shaft has been replaced once and we did burn up a solenoid due to bad connections on the electric lift, but I think either set-up will give good service.
