Low gear is okay if the tow tractor has the power and the traction to pull and the towed tractor's wheels will turn and not skid. The engine will spin faster this way and it will be able to take off better since the engine will not have to work so hard to pull it. Good timing on the clutch is helpful. I've usually used an intermediate gear such as 2nd or 3rd for this procedure. I guess what ever works best for you. Regards, Dan.
