Don't laugh... I know of at least one county in California that yearly sends a form to farmers to declare the tractors and value along with certain other farm equipment. Declaration to include tractors and equipment over a certain value located in other counties, also.
I personaly know of a guy that bought 5 acres, with a house and a Sears riding lawn mower. He received the form, valued the mower at $400, and returned the form. County taxed him $10 a year on the mower until I told him he didn't have a 'tractor"
