Yes I have changed 706,806,& two 1206s over too 56&66 shifts.The last one I bought from salvage yard was 400.00 with every thing needed.It would help to have a service manual.THese can be wore also pins & linkage rollers,detents which you can buy new still.Cowleing behind fuel tank take off,platte form off ,range deck plate off,left side on trans plate where reverse shifter fork is .Helps to take right steering colume suport off park lever etc.& linkage and use 56 suport instead of 06 other wise you have to do some grinding on the 06 suport,may loose your hyd.out let I ground mine out for the uprigtt shift shaft to fit.Make sure you leave the shift collar on the bottom speed shaft other wise it will fall down in trans.don"t want that.You can cut the cowling to fit the new shift pattern.Also theirs a bushing you will have to drive out up by the shift levers and replace with 56or66 bushing.Clear as mud right you can do it.
