Like stated the rabbit will eat the orange part of a carrot but he would much rather have the green top. Try using some lettuce or other green stuff.
All so if you are using a wood trap you may have a smart rabbit on your hands. Just like adding a box type entrance to a chicken coop is said to keep a fox out you may have to redue your box to get the rabbit to go in. Remove the end of your box trap and replace it with wire so the rabbit can see thru it and not think he is walking into a trap.
