Some things to keep in mind when purchasing a compact. How much PTO horsepower do you want to manage the implements you want to use? Go and look at all of the models, sit on them, drive them, and whatever else the dealer will let you do. You will find that the New Holland has the best visibility, which is very important when using a loader. Access for the hydraulic's is very important, as to where the main valves are located. Most of the tractors have them hidden under the seat or the platform and are not accessible to work with yourself. Make sure the tractor is equipped with all of the hydraulic outlets you can get. Make sure that your power steering pump is seperate from the other hydraulics on the tractor. John Deere always quoted that they have more hydraulic power but when it come down to it their power steering is feed by the whole hydraulic system so when the system pulls down you loose power steering. If you are purchasing it for landscaping, make sure it has either turf or industrial tires, not bar tires. The bar tires tear up lawns to much. Make sure the loader has a joy stick for the hydraulic movement so you can feather your movements. Also make sure you get a tractor with hydrostatic transmission, in the New Holland model it should come with a rear and mid mount PTO.
Ask about specials, every month the various dealers have something different to offer you to compete against the other dealers.
