I have a notion that this disease has been around for quite a while, but better checking is finding it. Most sick cows never get to market, hence never checked. The parts that matter don't get into the human food - at least they're not supposed to. Too much is not known about this problem. I figger you've got a lot better chance of being struck by lightning than by getting anything from eating beef.
