50 A generator

Trying to figure out if my generator is working correctly. I'm trying to use the suggestions other people have already suggested (Clooney). I cannot find any markings on the generator to indicate the "F" or "A" post. Which is which?(they seem to be the same size) The regulator have three parallel links and one under the regulator. Are these the "Bat", "Arm" and "Gen" terminals. I need some help in identifying these posts.
With the tractor off and the light turned on the ammeter discharges slightly. With the tractor running it does charge ever so little but when I turn the light on I get a negative charge.
Would appreciate any help.
