Backing computer up to correct a mistake here on t

Lets say I decide to post a message (or a response) here on the YT discussion forum. I type my message and then submit it. The message tells me to proof read what I did then go back to correct anything before moving on again. Everytime I backup I get blanked, my message is missing and I have to start all over again. Lately I've been using "cut" (control C) to save the message with the error in it then "paste" (control V) back into the message box and then do my corrections. Any idea of why I can't just back up normally and correct the original error?
