I HOLD IT THERE AND COUNT TO ABOUT 12 IN SUB 30 DEGRESS WEATHER. cOUNT TO ABOUT 20 IN BELOW ZERO. tHEN START IT. I USE IT EVEN IN THE WARM WEATHER AND COUNT TO ABOUT 7 OR8 WHEN ENGINE IS COLD. I BROUGHT MINE NEW IN 94 AND THAT PROCEDURE HAS ALWAYS WORKED FOR ME. I'M SURE YOU HAVE THE SAME SETUP. I USE MINE ALMOST EVERYDAY IN MICHIGAN HOPE THIS HELPS.
