A few years back, my wife got a new car and I decided to keep the one she'd been driving and sell mine. It was a 9-year-old 4-cylinder Chevy Celebrity with about 160,000 miles on it. I put an ad in the paper asking $400. A guy showed up to look at it. He walked around it and looked in it for about 10 minutes without saying a word. He then asked what was wrong with it. I told him that to the best of my knowledge, there was nothing really wrong with it. He wanted to drive it, so I climbed in with him and we went for a short drive. When we returned, he said "Well, it looks decent, and it drives better than it looks. Do you think it's safe?" I pondered his question for a moment, and said "Well it's probably as safe as any car that old of that mileage!" He replied, "Well I just got divorced yesterday, and part of the settlment was that I have to buy my ex-wife a safe, dependable car. I hope she likes it!" He gave me cash, and I never saw it or him again.
