We had a very serious woodpecker damage problem in our cabin. Not allowed to shoot the woodpeckers....so we took some plain old tin can lids and put them over the damaged sites. Then we painted the metal lids to match the siding. It didn't look as bad as you might imagine...and the woodpecker damage came to a halt. A very cost effective solution. Hope this helps.
