i am not an expert on this small motor, but on many farm tractors with 6 volt generators, they will put out about 15 volts non regulated. this means you can connect a 12 volt regulator to a 6 volt generator and get 12 volt output. normally you only get about 5 amps, but thats enough to charge battery. if the generator has two terminals A anf F, try grounding the F, start motor and measure the voltage across A and F. when not connected to battery you should get 12-15 volts, which you can then add a regulator.
