Newer equipment that is equiped with a ROPS makes it almost mandatory to wear a seat belt. You cannot get away fast enough to escape the canopy. On a machine with ROPS, glass and doors you may be contained but will suffer cuts and bruises or still be ejected. We have had several cases of loaders laying over and because of MANDATORY seat belt and hard hat requirments all the operators walked away. I did roll a Allis D15 w/loader (no ROPS or seat belt) and was able to bail out and roll to safety. But I was a whole lot younger (15) then and a seasoned rough stock rodeo hand AKA Dumb Cowboy.
