You should be running it wide open, that's where the engine is govenored to run, and your mower will be easier on the tractor. That's also where the engine makes it's highest hp., and has it's highest oil pressure. It's a mistake to think throttleing back is going easier on the tractor.
I run my "A" wide open when i'm working it.
