in order to shift to 'park' you have to shift into a gear with the right lever and then pull the left lever to the left (against a spring) and to the front. to disengage 'park' you have, again, to push the left lver to the left against the spring and then rear to neutral.
if it doesn't work this way either the sheet metal member on the park shifter shaft is broken or there is no 'park' at all, but a parking brake.
