The steering gear box is the Saganaw recirculating ball and there are 3 adjustments. 1&2 are the screws on both sides,these should be tightened to prevent end play of the gears. The last is made by removing shims between the box and steering column. This will eliminate internal play if no other parts are damaged. A common problem with these are damaged bearings [2] due to lack of lub, these bearings when working hold the shaft securly and shims are used to adjust. Hope this helps also these bearings are avalable.
