Bob--Most all these type steering boxes have an adjustment screw that when tightened up will adjust the slack. The best way to do this is to turn the steering wheel full left or right,if there is no slack, adjustment will not help. The gear mechanism will most likely be worn much more in the straight or center position. If you tighten the screw in the center pisition, you could have a severe bind or lock condition when the steering wheel is turned. Something else to remember is to have a small amount of clearance after the adjustment.---Hope this helps--
