Bleeding hydraulic system

I just bought an 801 Ford and am having lift problems. The previous owner said it worked fine until he changed hydraulic fluid. Now it has to be bled every time. What is the proper way to bleed the system, could the wrong hydraulic oil cause this, and what else should I look at?
