Hi Bill, I think that your friend, although he means well and is trying to be helpful, has his wires crossed. You shouldn't run oil, which has been formulated only for gasoline engines, in a diesel. The other way around is perfectly acceptable & okay. If fact, your thinking is right on target because you are actually using better oil in the H than it really needs. As far as what brand name to use; Rotella, Texaco, Co-Op, Penns or whatever, it really doesn't matter. It doesn't make 6 eggs worth of difference one way or the other. Contary to what some will say, I contend that this "brand thing" is pure hogwash. Engines are iron and have no preferences; the choice of what brand to use is purely a human emotional 'favorite'. :>) Allan
