J.D. flat bottom plow

Is there any way to keep them from tripping too easily, they worry me having to stop and raise plow and drop it real fast to reset. I realiaze that this is a safety feature as it is on a 970 garden tractor and the light weight on the front end allows it to come off the ground easily as the motor will not stall regardless if tractor don't move, also can I find a small3 point disc plow that could be used on this tractor? thanks for any suggestions.
