Hi Joe, Diagnosing on the phone is tough, however let me try. First off, are you sure it is turning backwards? You say it has a bendix, therefore I assume this is one of those *ford type* starters, which is spinning full bore when it hits the flywheel as opposed to the *solenoid type*, which has to be fully engaged before it even starts spinning? Did you have the field windings and shoes out of it? These didn't get flipped somehow on reassembly did they? Is your rig negative or positive ground? Wish I could see your starter. Allan
