Ford 3000 leak

I am looking at a Ford 3000 Diesel. It has a couple of apparent leaks. One is an easy one to figure out (diesel leak on right hand side at hose connection). The other one appears to be an oil (or other fluid) leak directly behind the steering column on a flat area that would be the back of the engine compartment. I know this is an 'odd description', but does anyone have any ideas on what to check and possibly severity? Thank you!
