I told a guy the other day, that my wood is cheap. It's the cutting and hauling that I charge for.
My son cuts wood, and sells it for as much as $175 a pick-up load. He sells all that he can cut. We live on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky. The city folk will pay just about whatever anyone ask's for decent firewood. The price is relative to the outside temperature.
We have a section of woods that got nailed by a small tornado last spring. There is plenty of wood to be cut up. We have to clean it up, so we will be cutting it, no matter if we sell it or not.
I heat my shop with wood, and we have two fireplace's in our house. I end up burning somewhere around 7 or 8 ricks a winter. I can't mail the gas company firewood, but I can sure cut down on the size of the check that I send them.
