Dad bought a new 1941 B, on steel. It did not have fifth and sixth gears but had a shifter quadrant with the slot for them. After having rubber tires installed, he had the gears installed for fifth and sixth. If the 1941 A, equiped with steel, didn't have the same qaudrant as the rubber tired A, it was different than the B.
