That hospitality DID get some coverage by the US news media at the time; perhaps many people were so fixed on the events in NYC that they didn't pay much attention to it. I remember seeing it covered on ABC and NBC within a day or so of the time those people started coming back to the US. One of the networks had roughly a half-hour about it one evening within a couple of weeks of the event.
