Don't let my "customers" see these prices! most of what is on this web-site, is large scale farm work. Smaller mowing jobs must take all things into consideration. I have done several this summer, where I spent more time moving to and from the job, than I actually spent mowing.
I do a lot of bush hogging for a local real estate company. Some of their property is in the city. You never know what you're going to encounter. That has to be considered. I've hit rocks, old lumber, a sawed off telephone pole (Left 8" out of the ground), a couple of bicycle frames, fence wire, and a dead dog. You never know what will be under 4' tall weeds.
When bush hogging other peoples ground, you will get the "pleasure" of discovering all this junk. I end up buying a new bush hog every 3 or 4 years. That has to be factored into the price you charge everyone.
Then there is the "old guy down the road, with an old tractor and nothing better to do" factor. You won't beat his price, so don't even try. If you can't make a buck, just stay at home, and watch TV.
Location has much to do with the price also. Way out in the boonies, people will not pay as much as you can make in the city. Law of supply and demand. (There is a big supply of tractors and mowers in the country, and not so many in town)
