Do the same things you would do with buying a car. Check the oil and hydrolics for moisture in the oil. Look for noticible leaks. Start it, listen to it for noises out of the ordinary. Run the 3 pt up and down, engage the PTO. Ask to drive it in the lot, so you can check brakes and steering. Make sure guages all work, as well as lights, etc. There is probably a few things I left out, but mostly, just use common sense.

Do you know what year it is?
