We had a similar situation on our house. We bleached the water spot under the radiator, but then had a hard line where the bleach stopped. Bleached the entire floor, then applied a stain to the floor to get rid of the stark white bleached look before putting down the poly. It got rid of MOST of the stain. It is now very presentable but not perfect.
