ANOTHER thing you might check.. Some of those alternators require juice from the ignition switch to create a field in the alternator to charge. It is possible that someone has run a direct wire to the alternator for the initiating electricity, and it could be located on another switch or hooked directly to the battery. THIS IS ASSUMING YOU REALLY HAVE AN ALTERNATOR AND NOT A GENERATOR. Generators don't require electricity to begin charging.
