You might also try and go leaner with the high speed mix. Just had a problem with my Ollie that I traced down the the carb needle seat being just a bit to small for the engine. With the mix adjusted right and heading for the barn in 6th she ran out of gas in 1/4 mile, several times. Fiddled and when I adjusted it lean to the point it wouldn't pull as hard as it should it'd keep going. 16 miles without a hickup. It wasn't a miss, it'd plain shut off until you lowered the throttle and waited for it to catch up.
