You might try spraying it with "RAID, Ant and Roach killer" (I am not talking about wasp spray... ANT & ROACH!) just before you store it! The A&R Killer has a residual chemical that kills all sorts of insects for almost 3 months! I have been spraying A&R killer around the inside of my attic windows (and attic doors) each spring and I find dead wasps and hornets all summer (also every other variety of dead insects too)! I don't have the annual wasp invasions anymore.
