Since you are putting a gauge and thermostat in and will know what it is running, do you know what it should run? AC says in their manual for gas it should be 170 and, 190 for low octane (tractor fuel). These are MINIMUM temperatures. The AC gauge had a green or normal zone up to 220 degrees. The standard radiator cap for a WD was not pressurized, the pressure cap was an extra to allow higher operating temperatures. This information is right of my reprint of an AC operators manual. If you don't have one it is very informative as is the repair manual.
