It is most likely running in either 16-color or 256-color mode. Like C, TimC, and Paul said, you need the correct drivers for the video card. Since you have a Gateway computer, you should be able to get them from Gateway's Web site. If the video card is built into the motherboard, there will be no extra card to look at.
