I went from 1/2 ton to Ford F250SD Diesel to pull my IH 300, 300U and 450. I also pull a 8 1/2 X 20 US Cargo 7700 lb trailer. On flat roads, the 1/2 ton did ok, but on the hills and curves, nothing but the 3/4 ton with lots of tongue weight. That way, you can't have the trailer push you down hills on curves.
