I run a '95 Freightliner FL106 (business class) as my field service truck. It has a Series 50 Detroit and an MD 3060P Allison automatic with a 4.10 rear. It weighs in at just under 33,000 full time, and I'm getting right at 8.4 MPG out of it. Been going to job up in the mountains over the past couple months and that has dropped me back to about 7.5 MPG, but that's about it. The Allison is a 6 speed, with both 5 and 6 being overdrives, so it is great for highway cruising (around 1600rpm at 70MPH) as well as having really good pulling power in the lower gears for going off road.
