Kurt: I own a Polaris 300 Explorer and my best friend has the 300 Arctic Cat. Both 4x4, (AC is newer by 2 years), they are completely different machines. Explorer is quicker (2 stroke) and faster as well as true automatic. Maybe a little easier to ride for fun... The AC is a little slower, but doesn't lack for power, and with his snow blade, I have finish graded my entire yard (2 acres) following the house lift and new basement. It also worked incredibly well for filling and grading where trench work was done for phone lines, water, etc. The Polaris doesn't work so well for pulling (harrowing) heavy stuff, but the AC is not as easy to handle at higher speeds. Wish I could afford both, as I could really put them both to good use. Just depends on what you want the unit to do...my opinion only.
