Farm 250 acres, soybeans, ear corn, wheat, oats, several kinds of grass hay. I also buy in hay and resell (not too much, just a little) I provide horse-sitting services to a local stable when the owners run the show circuit. I also do some custom field work, like laying plastic mulch with irrigation line for a flower grower, custom baling, combining, plowing, etc. I did go to college and came back with a BA in English. I used to work in publishing (boring), then in the office a steel mill that makes nuclear-grade pipe fittings, keeping track of Material Test Reports (stressful). So far I'm doing OK farming full-time, but the health insurance is beginning to be a hassle, and if I decide to be no longer single and have a family, I'll have to get a new strategy.
