Most of the B F Avery A's have the serial number stamped on the top of the right side frame chanel, to the rear, near where the frame bolts to the transaxle assembly. Sometimes the frame to transaxle bracket has been broken and someone has welded reinforcement to this area to repair the break and covered the serial number. The Avery was also sold by other retailers, such as Montgomery Ward. I believe they had a brass ID tag mounted the the side of the frame chanel. As far as manuals, I believe the same manual applies to all standard B F Avery A's. Search Ebay for "Avery Manual". Presently there is a Minneapolis Moline BF listed. The BF is the Avery after MM bought them up. If you are patient, the Model A manual will show up. K-Mo
