I imagine this is one of those questions where you will get replies wondering what you are trying to do, kill yourself & your whole neighborhood???? :) Fortunately I'm too dumb to know what would happen, so I won't be so harsh, but could you clarify what you are starting with (a 20lb lp tank, or a 1000 gallon lp tank?) and I assume you are trying to put liquid gasoline into it? And you want it to be mounted on a vehicle, or you want a portable gas can, or you want to end up with what? Are you mounting it somewhere, upside down, right side up, added a drain tube, or what? Ok, and then what have you done so far? LP tanks are air tight & hold a compressed gas, while gasoline tanks are liquid tight & need to be vented to air-pressure to hold a flamible liquid, no pressure build-up allowed! So you did of course change the fittings and add a vent of the right type? Then after that at minumum it should probably be painted red, and even then it's probably not up to code somewhere. You'd probably have to meet a lot of conditions to make it safe & legal if such things worry you or your insurance co. Those little tanks do make good air tanks, since that is what they are meant to hold - compressed air. You'd have to go some to make them a liquid tank for holding liquids at air pressure. But I'm a real dummy on this, I don't know anything. Just trying to see what you are doing, so it is more clear. Hope others can help. --->Paul
