Several weeks ago, I started to get help on why my D will not start. Sorry for the delay in getting back to the message board with info requested. The D is serial # 133537 and currently has a Edison Splitdorf mag Type C number 0010 on the tractor. The mag has been refurbished by a qualified repair company. The tractor backfires through the air cleaner and fires sometimes but not correctly. I have set the timing according to the instructions in the "instrucions and parts list for John Deere Models D and DI" and have used the information in the Green Magazine by John Nordhoff. However, I am doing something wrong and could use some additional input.
